Boulders Introduce New Manager at Holiday Party

Jamie Keefe meets the public on Dec. 13 at Provident Bank Park in Pomona.

On the heels of their recent announcement that Jamie Keefe is to be the second manager in franchise history, the Rockland Boulders have scheduled a Holiday Happy Hour Meet-and-Greet to introduce the new skipper on Thursday, Dec. 13 at Provident Bank Park.

The free event from 6 to 8 p.m. is open to the public and is sponsored by of AAA and Green Mountain Energy.

Keefe, 39, is a native of Rochester, New Hampshire and was a third-round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Pirates, having ascended as high as the AAA level during his nine-year pro playing career. His managerial career includes stints in both the Frontier and CanAm Leagues, where he has amassed over 400 career victories.

He led Pittsfield to playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011, and was named Manager-of-the-Year by the CanAm League after the 2011 season. He spent this past season as the GM/Field Manager of the Pittsfield Suns in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

In addition to meeting the new skipper, fans can meet Santa Claus and team mascot BoulderBird, along with past and current Boulders players. Free items on the bill include Christmas cookies and milk, candy canes, Coke products and a free holiday sampling of Blue Moon Winter Abbey Beer.

“This is such a festive time of year,” stated Team President Ken Lehner in announcing the event, “and we’re very excited about having the chance to share the holiday cheer with our fans, while introducing them to Jamie. This is the next step forward for our franchise and after meeting Jamie we’re confident that our fans will be anticipating the 2013 season as much as we are.”

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
