Rockland's Palisades Fair Opens Today

Food, rides, prizes, entertainment and fun—the Palisades Fair has it all. Debuting in 2012, the fair returns to the Palisades Center, 100 Palisades Center Dr., in West Nyack on July 3 through July 14.

Admission to the fair—which opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends and closes at midnight—is $6.

“We saw the need to bring a county fair-type event to Rockland County last year, the response was great,” said Brian Schuman, the fair’s organizer.

Your favorite amusement park rides—like the Wave Swinger, Giant Wheel and Swing Tower—will be provided by Strates Shows, which still travels by train. Many vendors will be on hand serving tasty carnival treats like candy apples, sausage and peppers, gyros and zeppoles.

The Lance Gifford Magic and Illusion Show will dazzle crowds with a Las Vegas-style performance. Kids and fair goers can also get cozy with the animals at the free petting zoo. Circus Pages International will perform amazing aerial acts, while the Puppetone Rockers, a rock and roll puppet band will, jam.

Other entertainment includes a hypnotist, karaoke, pony rides, free karate lessons and more.

“My kids grew up going to these kinds of events and without a true county fair in Westchester, Bergen or Rockland counties, the Palisades Center proved to be the ideal place for this family-friendly fair,” said Schuman.
