For a brighter, more colorful Piermont, step into the Piermont Fine Arts Gallery.

The local art house is presenting a watercolor exhibit by artist Peri Karkheck.

"I've adopted Piermont as a second home," Karkheck said, who lives in Nanuet.

Karkheck's scenes are familiar—Flywheel Park and some of the towering homes in the historic Bogerville neighborhood—but the brush strokes pop.

"I've exaggerated the colors; they're not muted by any means," Karkheck said. The hyperbolized hues make already-blue skies bluer and the Community Market's bricks more stark.

Though Karkheck's work is spot-on, she doesn't paint on location. Instead, she visits her favorite local spots with a camera around her neck, captures scenes she finds captivating and heads back to her studio to re-create it.

"Watercolors dry quickly outside," she explained.

Karkheck's show runs from March 15 to April 1.
