Filming Of New NBC Shows Moves Over To Old Nyack H.S.

After spending much of the morning and afternoon on Main Street, filming of the NBC show Smash moved to at the old Nyack High School on Midland Avenue late in the day on Friday.

The show about the making of a Broadway production filmed inside the BOCES building, with large trucks lining 5th Avenue outside the building, as well as N. Midland Avenue down past Nyack hospital.

Smash stars Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Uma Thurman and more, and is set to air Feb. 6 at 10 p.m.

, trucks hauling equipment for the show were parked on Main Street and Park Street in downtown, with a set cafeteria tucked away in an alley on New Street, just off Park.

While in downtown Nyack, the show also filmed at Olive's.

Very exciting to have had "Smash" film a bar scene at Olive's. Doug from Wasabi and i hung out at each others locations while set dressers took down all of our interior decorations, art work, advertising and signs. They even removed our tap handles, coasters, beer, liquor signs and art work. None could be visable for filming. In total, with crew & extras, there were nearly 100 people busy from 6 am till they finally finished breaking down and redecorating Into Olive's great and festive Christmas theme. My bartender, Billy Schmidt & I were used as extras serving drinks behind the bar. Look for the airing of Smash the night after the Super Bowl.
