Edward Hopper At Home: Selections from the Arthayer R. Sanborn Hopper Collection Trust

  • Edward Hopper (1882-1967) was born and raised in this house and it remained his primary residence until he rented his first studio in New York City at the age of 28. Growing up in this house and absorbing the distinct features of the surrounding area provided a rich source of inspiration for the young Hopper. This intimate display of art and memorabilia reveals some of those early sources of inspiration that would remain central to his art throughout his career.

Inside Edward Hopper's Truro Studio: Paintings by Philip Koch

  • Running concurrently with Max Greis, in our rotating hallway gallery.
As a young artist, Philip Koch was inspired from painting abstractions to working in a realist direction after seeing the art of Edward Hopper.  Since 1983 Koch has had thirteen residencies in Hopper's Cape Cod painting studio in S. Truro, Massachusetts. On display is a selection of paintings of the interior of the Cape Cod Hopper studio Koch painted on location.
