Grand View Band Has Grand Plans

Electronic rock band Glint—based in Grand View—recently toured Europe and will soon play the Jose Cuervo Games.

If Grand View's Adam Jordan speaks with a glint in his eye when he discusses the electronic rock band he manages, it's not simply because his brother Jase is the group's vocalist and song writer.

It might be because the five-member band—which goes by the name Glint—is on the verge of further solidifying their name in the music industry firmament.

Adam Jordan, who turned 26 last week, officially toasted another year on earth at a music industry birthday celebration Friday night at the group's home base in Grand View. And Adam, three years his brother's senior, has much more than a birthday to celebrate. Glint is producing its first full length album for its own record label, Rely Records, and on August 7 at Power Plant Line in Baltimore's inner harbor, Glint will play to thousands as the opening act for Ghostland Observatory at the Jose Cuervo Games.

"The band has changed lineups several times over the years, but this is the strongest group," Adam said, referencing his brother and Mateus Tebaldi, Phil Kuperberg (an original member who took a five-year hiatus), Dave Johnsen and Alon Leventon.

Glint first caught the attention of producer/engineer Nic Hard (The Bravery, Aberdeen City, The Kin) in 2007, and later caught the eye and ear of Mike Brauer.
Brauer was the mixer on a self-titled EP, released in 2009 in the U.S. and United
Kingdom, and will work together again on Glint's newest album, which is expected to be released early in 2011.

"Mike really fell in love with the band so much when he heard us live," Adam recalled. "He believes in the band."

Glint enjoyed a 10-country summer tour last year, hitting all countries in 40 days. They performed 30 shows across England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and the Netherlands.

But Friday's bash was on the home turf and, said Adam, had an "Andy Warhol factor."

"We do it all on one property," Adam noted. "The record label was created for this band, and we will have powerful names in the industry helping us along."

For instance, Adam was happy to relate that celebrated booking agent Marsha Vlasic will tout Glint's cause. Vlasic has also worked with Muse, Neil Young, Van Morrison and The Strokes.

"We've been compared to Muse and hope to tour with them," Adam said.
