On Saturday, September 15th at 7:30 p.m., the Piermont Library will host Suffern Poetry’s monthly open mic night with featured poet, Mary Panza. This event will be free and open to the public. Suffern Poetry’s mission is to find poets in the Rockland/Orange/Bergen area and to inspire new poets. Their emphasis is on poetry as performance art – original, authentic and real poetry – and the interaction between poet and audience. September’s featured poet, Mary Panza, has been a mainstay on the Albany poetry scene since 1988. She is Vice President of Albany Poets and host of Poets Speak Loud!, a monthly open mic held the last Monday of each month at McGeary’s in Albany. This event was funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc., with public funds from the New State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and
the New York State Legislature.
