Opening Reception for 'Indivisible' Exhibit at Rockland Community College

The Indivisible exhibit, a "Smithsonian Exhibition Exploring African-Native American Identity" will be on display through Mar. 9 in celebration of black history month.

From www.sunyrockland.edu:

Rockland Community College will host "INDIVISIBLE: African-Native American Lives in the Americas," a traveling exhibit that focuses on the seldom-viewed history and complex lives of people of dual African American and Native American ancestry. This program is an important exhibit about the intersection of Native American and African American people and their cultures from a historical to contemporary perspective. The exhibit explores the dynamics of race, community, culture, and creativity, addressing the balance between the human desire to belong and the continuing struggle to define and preserve cultural identity. IndiVisible: African-Native American Lives in the Americas” provides an extraordinary opportunity to understand the history and contemporary perspectives of people of African and Native American descent.
