Nyack High School Hosts Acclaimed High School Symphony From Washington State

Nyack High School is honored and excited to be hosting a visiting High School Symphony from Seattle, Washington, the Garfield Symphony, this Friday, March 9 in the school’s gymnasium.

The acclaimed group is in New York to compete in the National Orchestra Cup at Lincoln Center, which they won last year. Nyack’s Chamber Orchestra won the prestigious award in 2010.

This cultural arts partnership will be a memorable life experience for both musical groups.

The following is the schedule and program:

  • 12:15: Garfield HS Symphony arrives at Nyack HS
  • 12:30/12:45-1:45: Performances: NHS Advanced Chorus NHS Chamber Orchestra Garfield HS Symphony Orchestra
  • 1:45-3:00: Garfield HS and NHS Chamber Orchestra perform selections from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with guest conductor Jeff Grogan from the New Jersey Youth Symphony. Note: This will be a clinic as well as a performance.
