Hopper: Painting and Poetry
Saturday, November 6, 5:30-6:30pm
Drawing from their experience team teaching at Penn State, painter Mary Mattern and poet David Chin will present a lecture and slideshow about poetic responses to Edward Hopper's work. Their presentation will also provide the audience a guided opportunity to construct a collective poem in response a Hopper painting.

Lectures: David Chin received his Ph.D. in English from Binghamton University . His poetry has appeared in various journals and anthologies and in two books,Chalked In Orange and The China Cupboard and the Coal Furnace. He is currently Associate Professor of English at the Wilkes-Barre campus of Penn State . Mary Mattern received her M.F.A. from Pratt Institute. She is currently Lecturer of Art at Penn State Wilkes-Barre where she teaches both studio art and art appreciation.
