A Taste of Suffern - RESCHEDULED from 9-13

                                                                               SUFFERN -- Enjoy a sampling of Suffern's finest cuisine at the Rockland YMCA's Taste of Suffern, Tuesday, October 18, 2011.  The event had originally been scheduled for Sept. 13, but was cancelled due to the after-effects of Hurrican Irene. Proceeds provide program and membership scholarships for children of low income families. The event begins 6:00 PM with appetizers at Applebee’s. Tasters will then report to the first of their six stops in the village at 6:40 PM.  Dessert will follow at the newly renovated Applebee’s, at 8:45 PM. 

Participating restaurants include: Café Antigua, Da Nina, Hacienda de Don Manuel, Marcello’s Ristorante, Ole Tapas and Ravi.

Each day, more than 3,800 children and adults now take part in YMCA programs at 27 locations in diverse communities throughout Rockland County. The YMCA continues to provide programs throughout Rockland through expansion of its North Rockland Programs, which serves over 225 children, preschool through teens each year. In addition, more than 300 youth a week benefited from swimming, fitness and sports programs; more than 200 youth participated in our creative movement and dance programs in Suffern. Last year, 513 youth and 111 adults of low income were aided, thanks to the generous support from contributors and proceeds from special events.

 Today, the Rockland County YMCA continues to develop character traits through a variety of programs including: swimming lessons, child care, school age care, dance, youth sports and teen recreation. Children and their families find a wide range of activities at the “Y,” including child care, swimming lessons, summer day camp, youth sports, dance classes, the Teen Leaders Club After School Program, Youth and Government, Family Recreation Nights, and community service projects.  The values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are woven into every “Y” activity.
