A Look Back at Piermont: Gateway to the Rustic Capital of Lower Rockland County

On October 15, in conjunction with the Piermont Reformed Church, the Piermont Historical Society will offer a program that provides a rare glimpse of the Piermont area during the Colonial era. In A Look Back at Piermont: Gateway to the Rustic Capital of Lower Rockland County, noted historian and Rockland County native Dr. Firth Haring Fabend will discuss Dutch settlement in southeastern Rockland during the seventeenth century. Dr. Fabend’s talk will be based on the research in her prizewinning book A Dutch Family in the Middle Colonies, 1660-1800, and in Tappan: 300 Years, for which Dr. Fabend served as the editor. A Look Back at Piermont: Gateway to the Rustic Capital of Lower Rockland County will take place at 2 p.m. on Oct. 15 in the Piermont Reformed Church at 361 Ferdon Avenue in Piermont.  The suggested donation is $5.  For information, call (845) 365-0655.
