Where's the Best Place to Sled?

A look at the villages' best sledding spots. Share yours!

There's an upside to all the shoveling, defrosting and shivering—sledding. Just be sure to get your rides in before the snow dissappears, as Friday and Saturday are slated to be in the 40s.

Upper Nyack Elementary (336 N. Broadway, Upper Nyack)

Trudge through the snow and behind the building and you'll discover an ideal slope adjacent to the elementary school's playground. It's far from the road and not too steep—a great place for youngsters and budding sledders. It's usually busy, so you'll likely have company.

Memorial Park (53 Piermont Ave., Nyack)

Park by the river and walk up behind the tennis courts; you'll find a gradient that's perfect for tubes, sleds and luges. It's nestled under several pines, so beware of falling snow.

Marydell Faith and Life Center (640 N Midland Ave., Upper Nyack)

The hills here aren't as steep, but the landscape is sprawling. Do some searching and you're bound to find small inclines suited for younger kids and quick rides. Plus, as of yesterday, almost all the snow on the grounds is undisturbed—be the first to leave a mark.
