Nyack Skate Park Picks Up Big Bucks from Tony Hawk: News Report

The Tony Hawk Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Nyack Skate Park, reports Nyack News & Views.

It's a compliment: the foundation says on its website that it "favors programs that clearly demonstrate that funds received will produce tangible, ongoing, positive results."

“So many thanks to Tony Hawk. We promise you are going to LOVE visiting us!” said Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White according to reporter Bill Demarest.

The skateboard park's organizers have been working hard to get the money to construct and maintain the park. In December 2013, for example, their Deckade fundraiser raised more than $12,000.

Nyack village officials support the park, to be part of the renovated Memorial Park—funding it with donations being one of the conditions.
