Flood Watch Issued for Rockland County April 30-May 1

4 to 6 inches of rain are predicted to fall between 2PM Wednesday and noon Thursday.

Rainfall between 2 p.m. tomorrow and noon Thursday could be heavy enough to cause local flooding in Rockland County, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Flooding in urban, low-lying and poor-drainage areas is possible as early as the Wednesday evening rush hour, the NWS said. One to two inches could fall by then, with another three to four inches overnight into May 1,

That will increase "the threat of widespread, significant urban, low-lying and poor-drainage flooding as well as small streams and rivers," the NWS predicts.

Weather officials urge residents in flood-prone areas to monitor forecasts and be alert for Flood Warnings.
