Looking for a Local Couples Getaway?

Bricktown Inn in nearby Haverstraw offers haven of comfort for women and couples

Michelle Natale had always wanted to open a Bed and Breakfast. In 1998, she and her husband Joe found an ideal 1885 Georgian Colonial in Haverstraw, and purchased it a year later. Following renovations and restoration, the Bricktown Inn was born.

"Our aim was to have one feel as though they stepped back in time when they walked through our doors," Natale explained. "And we feel we have accomplished that."

The Bricktown Inn—with a slogan that reads "There are no strangers here, only friends we haven't met"—is open year round, and rate information is available on their website.

"We give a $50 gift certificate to Union Restaurant for stays of three nights or more," Natale noted, explaining deals that often come with booking a stay. explained. "And I'm putting together a Girlfriend Getaway package for a two-night stay which includes a gift certificate to a local restaurant, manicure/pedicure, pajama party complete with chick flicks and popcorn and breakfast each morning." The package will cost $150.00 per person/double occupancy, Natale said.

"We have found through our experience as innkeepers that women travelling alone—especially on business—prefer the ambiance and safe haven feeling of staying at our inn as opposed to a hotel," added Natale, who, along with her husband, are lifelong Haverstraw residents. "Couples enjoy sitting on our front porch swing or reading in our parlor and enjoy time alone or sharing stories with other guests."
