Local Salvation Army Continues Help Efforts In Piermont
They've been set up there since Thursday
Since Thursday evening, the Salvation Army has been set up in Piermont, one of the hardest hits areas in Rockland County during last week’s storm. The Salvation Army has given out about 150 meals during lunch and dinner, according to Maj. Philip Lloyd, the county coordinator for the Salvation Army.
Lloyd added they will be in Piermont until no longer needed and right now the plan is look at the need day-by-day. They are parked in front of the Piermont Fire Department’s station on Piermont Ave.
The meals have come partly thanks to the Piermont Fire Department’s women auxiliary, who set up a system for donations, Lloyd said, adding a lot of food was also prepared in the fire house. Other meals are being prepared at the Salvation Army’s location in Spring Valley and drive to Piermont. Lloyd said that while the Piermont location is their only in Rockland, they’ve also been brining supplies to the Stony Point Center.
