Keep Busy in Nyack, Piermont and Elsewhere in Orangetown

This will be a busy weekend for events in Nyack and Piermont as well as the rest of Orangetown.
In addition to providing plenty of choices for great activities, these events could also provide a challenge for drivers with road closures, detours and parking restrictions.
Among this weekend's events are:

Saturday

  • Orangetown Highway Department Open House from 10 a.m. to noon at 119 Route 303 in Orangeburg. Read more about this event in this week's Patch family planner
  • The African-American Day Parade at 2 p.m. in Nyack, which had been postponed earlier this month. The parade will be followed by a festival in Nyack Memorial Park with food, music and other entertainment. There is a job fair and two new additions are a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a community line dance.
Sunday
  • The Gran Fondo Bike Race will roll through Rockland County starting a little after 7 p.m. Sunday morning and going into the late afternoon. For more information, read this report on Patch
  • Nyack's Famous street fair in downtown Nyack from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be hand made crafts, art, gifts, antiques, a children's play area and food. Admission is free and the event, sponsored by the ACADA, will go on rain or shine. No pets are allowed.
