Haggerty Girls Walk To Fight MS

"The Haggerty Girls" team will take part in the MS Walk at Rockland Lake April 27 to raise money to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

Michael Haggerty's daughters Alaina, Jenna and Taylor know very well what Multiple Sclerosis can do.

The autoiummune disease attacks a person's central nervous system. In Haggerty's case, it is causing weakness in his left side.

His daughters formed "The Haggerty Girls" team, which is in its fifth year of raising money to help find a cure for MS. So far, they have raised $15,906.

Below is the letter The Haggerty Girls sent out to team members:

HI EVERYONE!

“The Haggerty Girls” team is celebrating its 5th year raising money in an attempt to find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis! We would like to invite you to join us once again at Rockland Lake in Valley Cottage, New York on Saturday, April 27th, 2013 for yet another fun and exciting walk.

We do this every year as a way to honor our father, Michael Haggerty, and everyone else living with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system. While the MS is causing our father’s left side to become weak and lose muscle strength, he is the strongest and most determined person we know.

Last year we had the opportunity to walk with about 50 of our closest friends and family at Rockland Lake. Every year, as our team grows, we set a higher standard for ourselves in the fundraising process. Last year we planned on raising $3,000 but it remarkably rose to over $4,000. In the four years that we have participated in the walk, we have fundraised $15,906! With your help, we may be able to break the $20,000 mark this year!

We are ready to walk again this year and hope you can join us! If you are in the area and are interested in walking with us and/or donate, join our team “The Haggerty Girls” on the MS website (see link below). We also teamed up with Strawberry Place in Nyack and Sidewalk Bistro in Piermont to help fundraise. Both restaurants have donation bins for our team to have our community participate as well.

If you know anyone else who would be interested in joining our team, please feel free to spread the word! Forward this email on to your family and friends who may be interested in helping our team. Spread the word and help us fundraise for an amazing cause!!!

We appreciate all of your help & look forward to seeing you on April 27th!

Thank you!
