Friends of the Nyacks Gear Up For 2013

They're preparing for their summer concert series

February's a busy month for Friends of the Nyacks. The Friends of the Nyacks is a non-profit organization, established in 1974, dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life in the Nyacks, according to their website.

They hosted a successful first Red Carpet Oscar Party that benefitted Nami-Familya of Rockland County.

The Nyack Marketing Association recently also had a meeting on how to market and promote Nyack. They did this meeting jointly with ACADA, Nyack Chamber of Commerce, Nyack Hospital and the Nyack Library on Feb. 12 at Nyack Pour House. They looked at a street banner program, advertising and promotional campaigns.

Now that their oscar-watching evening gowns are hung up, they're looking forward to their summer plans.

“For Friends of the Nyacks, we’re gearing up for our summer concert series. We’re finalizing the band list and are going to try different things this year,” said Catherine Bass, of the Friends of the Nyacks.

Also, their 2013 and future outlook is optimistic.

“(For 2013), I see Nyack being more on the map and a destination for art and soul,” said Friends of the Nyacks Chairwoman Paulette Ross.

“For Nyack, a number of community groups are working well together and are collaborating more than they ever have, which will help in terms of getting things done," said Bass. "A new thing I see happening is parents trying to get equipment for the playground and although it’s a big expense and hard work, we (the Friends of the Nyacks) hope we can help make that happen.”
