Arts and Craft Demonstration

  • When/Where: 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 at A.C. Moore
  • Why Go: Come and watch a demonstration of Red Heart Baby TLC's knit or crochet baby hats

Visit a Museum

  • When/Where: Anytime
  • Why Go: Most libraries offer passes to area museums to their library patrons. The Friends of the Nanuet Library have recently added a family pass to the New York City Police Museum. Contact your library to find out which museums they have passes to

Family movie night

  • When/Where: 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 at the Nanuet Library
  • Why Go: The movie Brave will be shown on the big screen. Bring blankets, pillows and anything that makes you comfortable. Snacks will be provided. Parents must accompany and stay with children during the movie.

Teens choice movie

  • When/Where: Friday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. at Nyack Public Library
  • Why Go: Have your teens join the Nyack Library on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month when they host movies and popcorn. Movies are rated up to PG-13.

Children's Sorytime

  • When/Where: Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Barnes & Noble at the Palisades Center
  • Why Go: Join storytime at Barnes and Noble where they'll be reading "Happy Birthday, Amelia Bedelia"

Youth for Hospice North Rockland Chapter Holds Dinner Fundraiser

  • When/Where: Thursday, Feb. 21 from 4 to 9 p.m./Lynch’s Restaurant at 79 S Liberty Dr in Stony Point
  • Why Go:  United Hospice of Rockland’s (UHR) North Rockland Chapter of Youth for Hospice (YFH) will hold a fundraiser to benefit United Hospice of Rockland in memory of lifelong North Rockland native, Carol A. Pileggi. The North Rockland YFH members say that Carol Pileggi was known for her timeless smile and her caring ways.
  • Cost/Contact: 15 percent of all dinners will be donated to United Hospice/ Lisa Denburg, 845 634-4974 orldenburg@hospiceofrockland.org.

School’s Out Movie!

  • When/Where: Friday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m./New City Library, 220 N Main St, New City
  • Why Go: Kids can come to the library and enjoy Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.
  • Cost/Contact: Free/www.newcitylibrary.org

Library Laser Tag

  • When/Where: From 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at the Pearl River Public Library.
  • Why Go: Up to 10 kids at a time will be able to play Laser Tag among the stacks in the Pearl River Public Library. There will be board games and Wii and other activities for those waiting their turn.

Pearl River Train Show

  • When/Where: Saturdays Feb. 23 and March 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Sundays Feb. 24 and March 3 from noon to 5 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Pearl River.
  • Why Go: The Bergen County Model Railroad Club will bring its well-loved model train show to Pearl River starting Saturday, Feb. 16. The variety of displays is a popular attraction every year.

Homework Help

  • When/Where: Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Pearl River Public Library Storytime Room.
  • Why Go: Teen volunteers will be available to help children in Kindergarten through fifth grade with their school work. No registration required. Just show up and bring your work.

Buddyball Basketball

  • When/Where: Sundays at Pearl River High School. Began Jan. 13. Buddies arrive at 9:45 a.m. and players come at 10 a.m.
  • Why Go: Athletes from ages three to 21 with developmental disabilities can learn basketball and social skills while working with non-disabled peers known as buddies. The buddies get the opportunity to help others in an athletic environment. They can also fulfill volunteer hours if needed. Buddyball is part of the Orangetown Mighty Midgets, drawing players and buddies from Orangetown and surrounding communities.
