Families enjoyed a variety of activities at Rockland BOCES in West Nyack on Saturday at the first-ever Farm to Family Fest. The day featured a farmers market, tractor display with historical farm tools, eco-friendly organizations and businesses, chickens, school health and environmental education workshops, and a screening of "When Learning Comes Naturally."  Students from BOCES demonstrated "green" technology used in their automotive, cosmetology, electrical and carpentry programs.

Everyone got a chance to learn to make a raised garden bed, listen to young musicians and try out family fitness with yoga, juggling, a fitness trail, labyrinth and geo caching exercises.

The Franklin Avenue Elementary School in the Pearl River Central School District; Link and Woodglen elementary schools in the Clarkstown Central School District; Valley Cottage Elementary School in the Nyack Public School District and Cottage Lane and William O'Schaefer elementary schools in the South Orangetown Central School District shared their composting, gardening, recycling, environmental education and physical activity programs.
