United Hospice of Rockland (UHR) benefited from a grand opening and VIP reception at the new Smashburger, 211C West Route 59, Nanuet (in the Cleats and Sneaks shopping center) on Tuesday August 13, 2014.  UHR and Smashburger declared the event a smashing success raising $1536 to date to benefit UHR. Additional donations are still being accepted.  Make checks payable to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956  or contact Assistant Director of Development Lisa Denburg at (845) 634-4974, ldenburg@hospiceofrockland.org.

UHR supporters, county leaders, and other invited guests attended the pre-opening event during which Smashburger of Nanuet gave away free burgers and other items from its pre-opening menu. (See attached photos.)

Franchisee Jim Denburg of New City, who also owns a Smashburger in Brooklyn, says,  “We were excited to open our new Nanuet Smashburger location where we are committed to providing delicious high-quality burgers, fries, shakes, and more.  We were pleased to introduce Smashburger to our Rockland County community while supporting one of its leading not-for-profits, United Hospice of Rockland.

Smashburger is now open to the public. According to Smashburger.com, Smashburger’s handcrafted burgers are smashed, seared and seasoned to order, using fresh, 100% Certified Angus Beef®. Patrons may choose a Classic Smashburger or decide to create-their-own.  “Smashburger artisan buns, freshly chopped produce, flavorful sauces and variety of cheeses are designed to deliver a great-tasting, juicy burger you can taste in every bite. Every great burger needs a companion, and our selection of signature sides — like our Smashfries hand-tossed with garlic, rosemary and olive oil and hand-breaded haystack onions— are the perfect complement to any meal. The same is true for our handspun Häagen-Dazs® shakes, served in a frosted glass. And if you’re in the mood for something other than a burger, our menu of grilled chicken sandwiches, crisp entrée salads and black bean veggie burgers are sure to satisfy.  We also offer beer.”
