UHR's 5th Annual Walk to Remember Raised Over $75,000

United Hospice of Rockland held its fifth Annual Walk to Remember, in conjunction with the Rockland Road Runners 25th Annual George Wodicka Hook Half Marathon, 5K Run and Kid’s Fun Run on Sunday, April 6 at Rockland Lake State Park. It was a beautiful spring morning that drew over 900 participants and raised over $75,000 to benefit UHR.

Ellen Feit raised over $3,200 to win the Avanti Cup, awarded every year to the most successful fundraiser. Ellen was walking in memory of her brother, Howard and while fundraising, her mother became ill, was admitted to the Joe Raso Hospice Residence and passed away shortly before the Walk to Remember. Ellen noted, “We are very grateful to the entire staff of the Residence who not only took care of my mother but our family as well.”

Steve Borton, Rockland Road Runners Race Director shares, “We would especially like to thank the volunteers from United Hospice of Rockland and the Rockland Road Runners for making the race an annual success, we are sure that George would be very proud. The Walk to Remember was very inspirational and brought many more participants together both running and walking.”
