September 17, 2013 (New City, New York)—Sheriff Louis Falco III is pleased to join Governor Andrew Cuomo and Sheriffs across New York State in recognizing the week of September 15th, 2013 as Sheriffs’ Week. Sheriffs’ Week celebrates the significant contributions made by the Office of Sheriff in county government and in the statewide criminal justice system. To mark the occasion, Governor Andrew Cuomo has issued an executive proclamation marking this special occasion.
Sheriff Falco said, “I am proud to have been elected on a public safety platform that is dedicated to the families, businesses, and communities of every neighborhood in Rockland County. Governor Cuomo’s proclamation recognizes the dedicated and professional work of deputies, corrections officers and civilian employees who work in Sheriff’s Offices throughout the state.”
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of four divisions: police, communications, civil, and corrections. Together, these divisions house inmates, ensure effective and swift communications between residents and police agencies, protect our streets, patrol our waterways, investigate criminal activity, and fight terrorism. By providing support to town and village police agencies, the Sheriff’s Office is a partner in crime prevention across Rockland County.
Sheriff’s Week highlights the contributions made by the Office of Sheriff, the highest ranking law enforcement office in the county. To mark the occasion, sheriff’s offices around the state host events highlighting the history and functions of the office of sheriff.
Sheriff Falco concluded, “The Sheriff’s Office proudly serves alongside our partners in Rockland’s town and village police forces. Sheriff’s Week is an opportunity to highlight the good work that the men and women of law enforcement—in headquarters, in the jail, and on the road—do every day on behalf of their neighbors.”
