3rd Annual Swim for Hospice Raised More Than $5,000 Event supports UHR's Mission and the Fight against Cancer

The 3rd Annual Swim for Hospice, hosted by the Town of Clarkstown at Germonds Pool in West Nyack on Sunday, July 14, 2013, raised more than $5,000 to date. The swim is sponsored by Swim Across America.

Swimmers swam 1-mile, 1/2 mile, or formed relay teams. Individuals and teams of friends and family participated as groups, perhaps, in honor or in memory of an individual. Team Furey, captained by Ashley Marinello in memory of her former swim coach, Keith Furey, raised $2010. Ashley is also president of the Nyack High School Chapter of Youth for Hospice (YFH).

Additional donations are still being accepted at http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=1946&pg=entry <http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=1946&pg=entry> or contact UHR Director of Development Lanie Etkind, letkind@hospiceofrockland.org <mailto:letkind@hospiceofrockland.org> , 845 634-4974.

Swim Across America, Inc., [SAA] began as a grassroots organization with events developing organically. Now, those events raise hundreds of thousands of dollars - and money raised is still given to local beneficiaries, which happen to be some of the best in the world. SAA is nationwide and bringing Swim Across America events to the whole country, from coast to coast. The SAA community is made up of swimmers, friends, parents, sons and daughters, teachers, coaches and the well - meaning. Many of the most loyal supporters aren't swimmers, but honor family and friends by donating, volunteering, or by helping raise money.

When time matters most, United Hospice of Rockland, Inc.
