Woman Struck By Car on Route 303

Investigation into incident in Orangeburg continues.

A woman crossing Route 303 in Orangeburg was struck and injured by a car, according to Orangetown Police.

The 7:25 p.m. accident at Mountainview Avenue shut down Route 303 in the area so accident investigators from the Orangetown and Clarkstown police departments could review the incident. Orangetown police said the investigation into the accident is continuing.

The victim, police said, was walking in the area after she had completed work. She was struck by a man who was driving on Route 303 after finishing a trip to the nearby Loews home improvement store on Route 303 in Orangeburg.

The victim was assisted by members of Rockland Paramedics and the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps, and she was taken to Nyack Hospital.

Police said the woman was dressed in dark clothing and the investigation is looking to determine where she was crossing on the busy state highway. Police said there was no alcohol or drugs involved in the incident.
