Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham from Congregation Sons of Israel in Nyack will be on GSN's The American Bible Challenge Season 2, which premieres on March 21 at 9 p.m. The quiz show is hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

"Everything was filmed and done a couple months ago. The segment that I'm in is going to air on March 28," he said. "I've never done anything like this before ... The feedback (from my congregation) has been really positive and people are anxious to see how I do. People know me as the cool Rabbi and that I'm willing to go out there and have fun on a game show and play for charity at the same time and help the community all at once."

If they're successful on the  , the charity he and his team chose to benefit is the UJA Federation of New York’s Hurricane Sandy Fund. They could win up to $140,000 for the UJA Federation, which is working to mobilize the resources of their community and offer assistance to rebuild for the future in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

"Hurricane Sandy very much affected Nyack in general and the people in my congregation specifically because we're right on the Hudson," he said. "There are a lot of people whose homes or apartments were literally right on the water and during the hurricane the water came up and destroyed their homes. Others, because of the winds, a tree fell right in the middle of their houses. And on top of that, our community was without power for 10 days to two weeks ... Our community really came together and supported each other during this horrible tragedy."

“The American Bible Challenge” is a game show in which three teams of three contestants answer questions based on stories from the Old and New Testament. At the end of the season, the championship team wins more than $100,000. All prize money goes to the winning teams’ charities of choice.

"My fellow Rabbi friend applied for the show the first season, but applied too late so he had an idea to apply for the second season," he said. "(After I found out what type of game show it was), I was excited, I love Jeff Foxworthy, i love studying the Bible and we should totally do it. We put together an application. They liked it and we were able to get an interview with the network and they liked us even more after that."
