United Water Invites Public To Tour Pilot Water Filtering Plant

Rocklanders are invited to United Water's open house at its Haverstraw Water Supply Project's pilot facility on Saturday in West Haverstraw.
Tours will be conducted throughout the day.
The Haverstraw Water Supply Project is a major infrastructure initiative that United Water says is critical to the future of Rockland County. United Water says Rockland needs this project because its water demands are expected to outpace the current supply in the near future. The West Haverstraw plant would process water from the Hudson River so that it can be used for drinking water.
United Water says laboratory results show water from the Hudson, after being purified at the pilot facility, is as good as or better than the quality of water that is being delivered to Rocklanders' taps today.

So I am guessing you have already toured the water plant and discussed the process with the United Water scientists to come to this well informed opinion?

As I remember it, water is second only to Air in Mazlows Hierarchy of Needs. Therefore we should welcome all new sources of purified water. If United Water was United Air and developed an alternative source for purified Air, would you object?

If we build the plant, Patrick Farm will come. The only growing demographic group in Rockland is Hasidic. Another behind the scenes way to funnel tax payer's money to the Hasidim.

To say that the Hasidics will stop reproducing at the rates they reproduce if a water purification plant is not built is at best, naive. The politicians in Ramapo will find another way, legal or not, to house their growing population with or without Patrick Farm. Personally, I feel that the more sources of purified water we have, the better it is for everyone.
