How Much Did 'Smash' Filming Earn Nyack?

A look at smaller government happenings

Last Thursday’s board of trustees meeting covered some major issues, like the in Veterans’ Park, and Nyack grabbing an for no cost.

Here’s some smaller items from the meeting:

  • Village Clerk Mary E. White said that in Nyack on Dec. 16 went “as smooth as we could ask for,” and wrapped ahead of schedule. She added the town made $6,025 off the filming.
  • Village officials set a public hearing for Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. about implementing a snow emergency policy that would prevent cars from parking on Franklin St., possibly between Fifth Avenue and Cedar Hill Avenue, during snowstorms. This could help to clear away the snow quicker, said village administrator James Politi.
  • Construction on the Marina might take off for a week or so due to a backup in demand for some supplies, but it’s still expected to open on time in the spring, said Nyack mayor Richard Kavesh.
