Moreover, the area had 34 new properties hit the market—including our featured property, the historic fieldstone Colonial home at 47 Schuyler Road in Nyack

This home sits on 3.6 acres and boasts a rich history. According to listing agent Demerese Duprey with BHG Rand, the house was hand-built by local craftsmen on what was once part of the Roosevelt Schuyler Estate. The home—which abutts the Buttermilk Falls parkland—is said to be the former dwelling of popular American composers Jimmy Webb and Teddy Randazzo.

Alessandro "Teddy" Randazzo composed '60s ditties like "Going Out of My Head" and "Hurt So Bad"; Jimmy Webb wrote classics like "Up, Up and Away" and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix."

Originally, the home was supposedly built for the wife of the famous American Yogi and businessman Pierra Arnold Bernard—also known as "Great Oom," "The Omnipotent Oom" or "Oom the Magnificent."  (For more on the interesting fellow, click here.)

Next week, I will be reviewing how the local real estate market performed for the first half of 2012.
